CORNELL FINE ARTS MUSEUM ANNOUNCES FACULTY EXHIBITION

Presenting recent works by artists and art professors Joshua Almond, Rose Thome Casterline, Dana Hargrove, Dawn Roe, and Rachel Simmons.
Winter Park, FL (April 6, 2016) – On view from April 16-May 15, 2016, the 2016 Rollins Faculty Exhibition at the Cornell Fine Arts Museum (CFAM) at Rollins College offers an opportunity to share new or recent work by five innovative artists with both the campus community and the greater Orlando area. Beyond their dedication to teaching at Rollins, the featured artists, Joshua Almond, Rose Thome Casterline, Dana Hargrove, Dawn Roe, and Rachel Simmons maintain busy studio practices and exhibit their work both regionally and nationally. “Composed of works shown here for the first time, the exhibition sheds light on new bodies of work and ongoing explorations for the artists’ robust practices,” states Ena Heller, director of the Cornell Fine Arts Museum.

Dana Hargrove uses her distinctive abstract language in new ways in a series of free-standing sculptures presented in the exhibition. Her forms, often made in loose-reference to cairns, stone mounds in her native Scotland, play with notions of reality and constructed facades as the backing of some of the pieces evoke the presentation style of the iconic Hollywood sign.
